Workshop 1: Getting Down - Negotiating The Ground

Service Description

How comfortable are you with being and moving on the ground? How easily can you get up from and down to the floor? Do you know how to fall in a way that helps to avoid injury? Much of our modern lifestyle is geared toward avoiding being close the ground. Which is why getting down to and up from the ground and falling can be fearful prospects - now, or later on in life. The truth is that humans have worked close to the ground – crawling, squatting, etc. - for thousands and thousands of years and reaped all the benefits that come with doing so – strength, joint mobility, coordination, balance, and stability. If you’ve lost (or never had) the confidence that comes with having these benefits, this workshop is designed with you in mind. After a brief warmup, we’ll dive into exploration of ground-based movements. Learn how to turn and roll your body with ease, ways of transitioning from reclining to sitting to upright, dynamic use of your arms and legs to aid propulsion and much more. Cost (per workshop): Early-bird (until Friday, March 1): $20 Regular pricing: $28 Suggested to wear/bring: Long pants. A t-shirt and/or long-sleeve shirt. Socks. Water bottle and a snack.
